Nyalaland Wilderness Trail

Nyalaland offers walking trails in the Kruger National Park thus allowing one to birdwatch on foot without the limitations of being in a vehicle. Trail guides are attuned to birding interests and have a good general knowledge of the natural history of the region. Bird species special to this area are Black stork; Dickinson´s Kestrel; Peregrine Falcon; African Finfoot; White-crowned Plover; Grey-headed Parrot; African Wood-Owl; Black and Horus Swift; Böhm´s Spinetail; Mosque Swallow; Black-throated Wattle-eye; Striped Pipit; Tropical Boubou and Meves´s Starling. Mottled Spinetail roost inside a giant Baobab at the camp. The group (8 persons) is met at Punda Maria rest camp, from where they are driven to the trail base camp 45 kilometres away. The accommodation consists of four A-frame huts with a communal ablution block. Linen is provided. Meals are included. Bookings run either from a Wednesday afternoon to a Saturday morning; or from a Sunday afternoon to a Wednesday morning. Reservations can be made through Central Reservations: Pretoria 012 426 5000.
